Top 10 Montessori Activities for Toddlers at Home

Hi, Mumma and Papa! Let’s Learn Through Play!

I love learning new things every day! Did you know I can explore, discover, and grow just by playing at home? Montessori activities make learning so much fun while helping me become independent. Let’s do some exciting & fun activities together!

  1. Pouring & Transferring – “Let Me Do It!” How to Implement: Give me two small cups or pitchers and let me pour water, beans, or rice from one to another. You can even use a spoon to transfer small things between bowls. Also Tinyvers object transfer is also a fun game that helps me transfer using & improve my grasping skills.

Why I Love It: I feel like a big kid when I do things all by myself. It makes my hands stronger so I can hold my spoon and cup better! Watching things move from one place to another helps me understand cause and effect. Mumma, can I pour my own juice next time?

  1. Sensory Bins – “Ooooh, This Feels Funny!” How to Implement: Fill a big container with rice, pasta, or sand. Hide small toys inside, and let me find them! I can scoop, pour, and feel the different textures with my hands.

Why I Love It: It tickles my fingers! Feeling different things helps my brain grow. Scooping and digging make my hands stronger for writing later. Can we make a bin with colorful rice? Pretty please?

  1. Object Permanence Box – “Where Did It Go?” How to Implement: Make a little box with a hole on top and a door on the side or use the tinyvers object permanence box. Give me a ball to drop inside—where did it go? Oh! I can open the drawer and find it!

Why I Love It: It helps me understand that things don’t disappear forever! It’s like playing hide-and-seek with my learning toys. It makes me think and figure things out on my own. Mumma, let’s play this again and again

  1. Matching & Sorting – “Let’s Find the Right Ones!” How to Implement: Give me different objects like colored buttons, blocks, or even socks! Let me sort them by color, shape, or size. We can even sort fruits and vegetables from the kitchen! . You can also provide the sorting set to sort them by shapes & colors.

Why I Love It: It makes my brain super strong by helping me recognize patterns. I love finding things that match—it’s like solving a tiny puzzle which helps me solve problems on my own & be independent! Sorting also helps me learn colors and shapes in a fun way. Mumma, let’s play the sock-matching game when you do laundry!
