Hi Amma, Papa! Did you know I’m already learning math while playing with you every day? Here are some simple and fun ways we can explore math together at home.
Comparing and Contrasting
Let’s compare my toys. You can ask me, “Which ball is bigger?” or “Which apple is bigger?” It helps me learn about sizes, weights, and quantities.
Fun with Measurement
You can give me one bowl and big jug and ask me to fill the jug with water with help of bowl. I will tell you how many bowls of water it took me to fill the jug. These little activities make learning math so much fun.
Understanding Spatial Relationships
Tell me where my ball is? Like “It’s under the bed” or “It’s next to the sofa.” Use actions to show me. This helps me understand where things are around me.
Learning About Shapes
Let’s find shapes at home, like a plate is a circle, a roti is also a circle, and a samosa is a triangle. I can even trace these shapes with my fingers and learn them better.
Sorting Colours Game
Can you give me some colourful bangles, blocks, or pom-poms? I’ll sort them into piles of red, blue, green, and yellow. You can say, “Can you put all the red ones here?” It’s so much fun, and I’ll learn colours and matching!
Counting Steps Game
Let’s count the steps from the living room to the kitchen. You say, “One, two, three…” as we walk together. I’ll learn counting while moving around and having fun with you!
