Hey Mumma, Let's Learn More About My Body!
Hi Mumma, did you know I can learn up to 13 different body parts by the age of 2? I already know my nose and hands, but I'm ready to learn even more! Here are some fun ways we can do that together:
-
Play a Mirror Game
-
Practice: We can stand in front of a full-length mirror and make silly poses. You can describe what we see: “Your elbows are bent!” or “My hips are wiggling!” This helps me learn new body part words and connect them with what I see and feel.
-
Help Me Find Body Parts on Others
-
Practice: It's easier for me to learn my own body parts first. You can help bridge the gap by asking me to point to my eyebrows and then Daddy’s eyebrows. This way, I learn to identify body parts on different people.
-
Use Humor to Get Me Talking
-
Practice: I might know more body part words than I can say. To help me practice, you can put a shoe on your hand and ask, “Wait, does this go on my hand? Where does it go?” Or put my pajama pants on your head and ask, “Why doesn’t this hat fit?” I might test out new words like “That’s for legs!” or point to where it should go.
-
Do “The Hokey Pokey”
-
Practice: Singing songs like “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” or “The Hokey Pokey” can be fun. You can change the lyrics to include body parts I don’t know yet, like elbows or specific fingers such as thumb or pinkie.
Learning about my body with Tinyvers body part cards is so much fun with you, Mumma! Thanks for helping me grow smarter every day.
