Early Math Skills for Toddlers

Early Math Skills for Toddlers

Mumma, I'm Learning Math Through Play!

Hi Mumma, did you know I'm starting to understand some early math concepts? Here are four fun skills I can practice with your help:

  1. Using Comparison Words

  • Practice: We can use the Colour Box to make two stacks of coins, one shorter and one taller. You can help me add coin to the taller tower and use words like "taller" and "shorter."

  • Tip: Use your arms to show me what "taller" and "shorter" mean. It helps me understand better!

  1. Learning Number Words in Order

  • Practice: We can count shopping cards from the Shopping cart list. You can say the numbers as I place each shopping item, and I can repeat after you. Let's count even higher than 10!

  1. Identifying Shapes

  • Practice: We can play a game of shape stomping. You can draw shapes on paper and I can match puzzle pieces to the shapes and stomp on them. It's so much fun!

  1. Understanding Small Numbers (Up to 3)

  • Practice: During story-time, you can ask me to pick two books. We'll count them together: "One book, two books..." This helps me learn what numbers mean.

Thanks for helping me learn math in such a fun way, Mumma!
