Look Mumma, I Can Help Too!
Hey Mumma, Did you know, I am on that phase of my life where I want to help you with housework, this phase is called "sensitive period" Maria Montessori says this is a great time for me to learn and take care of myself. Here's how we can make work fun and useful
Why Toddler Participation Matters
Builds Independence: Doing work with my mom makes me feel strong and independent.
Fosters Community Spirit: I feel like an important part of our family when I help out around the house.
Encourages Lifelong Habits: Doing chores without expecting a prize from a young age makes me naturally want to help others.
Ways I Can Help Around the House
Giving Siblings Help: It is easy for me to keep little baby busy which will be very helpful for you. It is fun and it makes me feel important
Taking care of mail: I'll bring you some paper mail or magazines. I feel responsible for this small amount.
Watering Plants: Using a small watering can, I can help take care of our flowers. Watching them grow is really cool!
Preparing Snacks: To help you make snacks, I can peel and cut up easy foods like eggs and soft vegetables. This is helping me use my little muscles better.
Setting the Table: I can set the table by putting down plates or handing out tools. I like doing it and I can do it.
Sorting Silverware: When the washing is done, I can put the dishes back in their correct trays. I learn new things and have fun.
Feeding Pets: While you watch, I can put food and water in their bowls. I love taking care of our pets!
Door Duty: I feel like I'm part of the family because I can open and close doors for them.
Cleaning Spills: I can use a small cloth to help clean up drips that aren't dangerous. This teaches me to take care of my surroundings.
Trash Management: Throw away small pieces of trash or help take light bags to the trash cans. It teaches me how to be clean.
Laundry Assistance: I can help sort laundry by color or move clothes from the washer to the dryer. It's a fun game!
Tips for Success
Patience is Key: Momma, don't forget that it's not about being perfect; it's about joining in and learning.
Praise Effort: Thanks for helping to make people behave well.
Make It a Routine: If we want to be consistent, we should do these housework chores every day.
Safety First: Make sure all of my tasks are proper for my age and watch over me to avoid accidents.
Why Being Proactive is Important
Kids giving me jobs to do not only helps me grow, but it also makes the family work together and do their part. As you praise my small but significant achievements, enjoy seeing me become stronger and more sure of myself. This early learning and participation with family is in line with Montessori principles. It helps me become more independent and responsible while improving my fine motor skills.
