Boost Your Toddler’s Development with Expert-Designed Activities and Toys

Has your toddler started running around the house yet? If not, prepare yourself to witness the fastest runner you will ever see.

What to expect?

At around 19 to 21 months you will notice many changes in your little one. Some of the changes are:

  • Walk confidently

  • May start running soon

  • Begin solving simple puzzles

  • Begin understanding the concept of sorting things by shapes and colours

  • May imitate activities such as talking on the phone or cooking

  • Have a vocabulary of about 50 to 100 words

  • Can understand and follow simple instructions

  • Show desires of dressing or eating on their own

Is it normal?

Concern: My toddler plays beside other children but does not play with them.

Verdict: Yes, it is normal. This is known as parallel play, which is a normal part of early childhood development. As your toddler’s social skills are still developing, they are not yet ready to play with other children but they can play alongside them. This helps them to observe, learn and imitate others behavior without having to interact with them. It also helps your toddler feel more independent and confident.

Concern: My toddler is banging toys or throwing their toys.

Verdict: Yes, it is normal. Your toddler loves experimenting with objects or toys and finding new ways to play with them. Throwing and banging toys is a normal part of their developmental process as it helps them to develop their fine motor skills, gross motor skills, hand eye coordination and creative thinking. Experimenting with toys also allows your toddler to explore the concept of cause and effect.

How can you support your toddler’s development?

As your toddler is growing, they begin craving independence. As a parent, you do want them to be independent however it is not possible to allow them to be independent everytime. But then how will they learn to perform their daily activities?

No need to worry about that. Tinyvers has worked with a team of pediatricians, educators and many more experts from various fields to design activity kits that cater to your child’s developmental needs. Tinyvers activity kit 9 has been designed specially for 19 to 21 month toddlers with developmental tools that foster language skills, problem-solving abilities, and introduce early STEAM concepts seamlessly into their daily activities. These educational kits widen their learning skills with STEAM principles & Montessori inspired approach. The kit also comes with a milestone brochure, activity booklet and DIY activity cards that help you navigate your toddler’s developmental journey with ease.

Let’s take a tiny peek into the developmental toys included in Tinyvers activity kit 9:

1.    Open and close:

Your toddler loves problem-solving, experimenting and exploring. Open and close mat allows your toddler to experiment and explore playing with the character and objects in various different ways. Use directional words such as "open," "close," "push," "pull," and "slide" to instruct your toddler to play with different elements of the open and close mat.

This supports their motor skill development, logical thinking, creative thinking, language development and improves their ability to follow instructions.

2.    Sorting set:

Your toddler is beginning to understand the concept of shapes and colours. The sorting set allows them to deepen their understanding about shapes, colours and sizes by sorting the various pieces by different categories. It helps your toddler to develop identification and classification skills.

3.    Simple dressing:

Does your toddler have a short attention span? The simple dressing can help them develop concentration, precision and perseverance. Sticking and removing the different geometric shapes to the mat helps them to learn about various geometric shapes and develop bilateral coordination. Arranging the shapes into a house and adding sun, moon and clouds give them freedom to express their creativity and learn about different times of day such as day and night.

4.    Ring slider:

As your toddlers start craving for independence, giving them toys that allow them to explore and experiment independently can be helpful. The ring slider is a fun toy that engages your baby’s attention for a longer time, ignites curiosity in them while developing their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

 5.    Colour hue:

We live in a bright and colourful world and your toddler has finally begun understanding their colours. The colour hue is a colourful puzzle that allows your toddler to recognize different colours and develop problem solving abilities.

 6.    Arctic animal:

At this stage, your toddler takes great interest in learning about animals. Arctic animal cards allow you to introduce your toddler to various kinds of arctic animals. These cards are great for building your toddler’s growing vocabulary and enhancing their memory skills.

7.    Matching cards:

As your toddler is gaining a better understanding about shapes and sizes, the matching cards deepens their understanding of the concept. The cards feature various pairs of two identical objects in two different sizes which enhances your toddler’s identification, classification and size differentiation skills.

8.    Colour and shape cards:

Has your toddler mixing up their shapes names and colours names? Don’t worry they are still learning. You can help them clearly understand colours and shapes by using colour and shape cards. Using these cards repeatedly will help to enhance your toddler’s memory skills and understanding of the concept.

Being a little human in a world of grown-ups with things their size can be a little scary. As your toddler is starting to gain the understanding of the world and themselves, there are times they might find their surroundings intimidating. Harry’s new home is a book that beautifully describes Harry's experience being in a big world. This book brings comfort to the toddler while teaching them new words as well as size and proportion concepts.

You might catch yourself constantly smiling at your toddler as they learn something new and develop a new skill now and then. This is an exciting time for you and your toddler as they try out new things and experiences together. Engaging them with developmental toys such as Open and close, Sorting set, Simple dressing, Ring slider and Colour hue can be greatly beneficial for their growth and development. Engaging in activities such as going through cards such as Arctic animals, Matching cards, Colour and shape cards and reading books like Harry’s New Home allows you to spend quality time with your toddler. Navigating parenthood is not easy but it is a beautiful journey.
